Installation Instructions

Step 1

Insert the SharePoint installation CD-ROM or DVD into the computer. The installation wizard automatically starts.

Step 2

Enter the product key for the installation and click the "Continue" button. Select "I agree" at the software license agreement and click the "Continue" button.

Step 3
Click the "Advanced" button. This allows you to customize the server settings. The installation window opens for configuration of the server farm.


Step 4

Select "Complete" for all SharePoint components. For standalone servers that are not part of a group of SharePoint servers (called a farm), select "Standalone" in the server type screen. For this example, select "Standalone." Click "Install Now." When the installation completes, check the box labeled "Run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard Now" to configure the server.


Step 5

Select "Create a New Server Farm" in the following configuration screen. Click the "Next" button.

Step 6

Enter the SQL Server database name and user credentials to connect. SharePoint uses SQL Server to store application data entries and document locations.

Step 7

Enter a port number other than the default if you wish to run SharePoint using a different port. The default setting is 12000. Select "NTLM" in the authentication section and press the "Next" button.

Step 8

Click "Finish" at the summary screen. Reboot the server for changes to take effect.
